Training and Education

Corporate Training: Coming Clean

Coming Clean Training is the prevention and awareness training support of the Harmony Group of Treatment Centres.

Based in Cape Town, Coming Clean Training has developed a range of products targeted at the South African workplace, communities and social workers focused on wellness issues, with a leaning towards substance abuse, problem gambling, financial management and fatigue.

At the core of our vision lie the safety, health and well being of all people within our sphere of influence.

We also recognise the enormous burden that addictions in all their forms are placing on our country, community and our workplace, both in social and economic terms. This has prompted us, as part of our social responsibility to design programmes of this nature, which will help everyone understand more fully the signs, symptoms and dangers of addiction, and how they impact on our everyday lives, both at work and at home.

Some of the symptoms of substance abuse for example in the workplace are, increased absenteeism, high medical bills, internal conflict, theft of company property and time, high staff turnover, injuries and even death, and our programmes will assist in reducing these, increase workforce morale, and ensure the sustainability of the companies we partner with.
These programmes will assist in understanding behaviours towards alcohol, drugs and other addictions, and offer solutions, which can make a difference.
In conclusion, we trust you find our programmes informative and educational, and assist you in a greater understanding of addiction.

Counsellor Training

South Africa is faced with a dearth of appropriately Qualified Addictions Counsellors. To combat this problem Harmony has implemented its own Counsellor training programme whereby suitable candidates can undergo an intensive 12 month full-time course on addictions/substance abuse, and on completion gain an Internationally recognised Certificate in Addictions Counselling.

Part of the course will consist of lectures, tutorials etc. with a further component whereby the students will receive first hand experience working in one of our institutions, whilst being personally mentored through this process by a Qualified Addictions Counsellor.

CPD Workshops

Harmony understands the need for ongoing research and training in the field of substance abuse. To this end we will be running quarterly CPD workshops that are accredited by the health professions council of South Africa. We hope that by the coming together of professionals in the field, we can better serve those within our communities who are suffering from a disease that is very misunderstood and misrepresented.
